BRAD

An Oklahoma native, Brad graduated from Oklahoma State University with a BS in Marketing.  After more than a decade in sales and account management, which included moves to Dallas and NYC (with Brian), he landed at a small, custom furniture business where he was introduced to custom furniture and drapery design and manufacturing.  It was through his collaborations with many talented architects and designers that Brad’s own innate sense of, and passion for, interior design was born.  After a few years, his entrepreneurial spirit took over and he left and founded his own company, BRAD JOBE BESPOKE FURNITURE, where he worked with some of the best design firms in NYC and many notable fashion brands and department stores - Burberry, Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, Prada, Bloomingdales, Tory Burch and Victoria’s Secret - just to name a few.

BRIAN

Originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Brian is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a BS in Building Construction.

He began his professional career working as an estimator and project manager for a a large residential home builder in South Carolina.  Shortly after transferring to Dallas (where he and Brad met), he accepted a position with Neiman Marcus in its Construction, Store Planning and Design Department.  This began a 25 year career in Retail Construction / Store Planning and Design, where he honed his project management, communication and financial management skills, while also learning an enormous amount about interior architecture and design, He went on to work for several national department stores, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s and The Hudson Bay Company, building in-store luxury brand vendor shops and managing multi-million dollar rollouts across the country.

How did we get here? The NYC fashion retail space is very exciting, fast-paced and innovative, but it is also incredibly demanding and chaotic. Burnout is real. It came first for Brian, who decided a change of pace and scenery was calling.  After several home renovations, we sought out a renovation / flip project near our weekend home in upstate NY.  We found and bought Wood Thrush and got to work.  We collaborated on all the details from layout and scope to materials and finishes.  Brian, acting as GC, assembled and managed a team of subcontractors and artisans for this down-to-the-studs gut renovation, while Brad continued to operate his business in NYC.  The project was successful and we realized that we would make as good a team professionally as we are personally, so we began to look for more opportunities. We ultimately realized that our lives' work had led us to this point; helping people find their bliss through custom design.
